We Can Do It Better Together!

The greatest brotherhood (or sisterhood) you could ever join is truly the body of Christ.  A church that is unified can not be divided or stopped in it's pursuit to carry out the work of God.

A body that is led by the Spirit exudes the love and joy of Jesus, and those who enter into the assembly are engulfed by the sweet presence of the Lord. To reach this place of peace and unity it is important that each member determine to work in their own area of strength(s), and not focus on or envy the accomplishments or gifting(s) of their fellow brother or sister.  Each member must come together with a mind set to give their best in whatever area they are called to at that particular time in their walk, either as an usher, prayer warrior, deacon, preacher, etc.

Teamwork is essential for goals to be reached by the assembly, and for souls to be saved.  Think of the movie Teenage Mutant Ninjas.  I was impressed with the personal observation that it was important for each turtle to find their purpose as part of the team in order for them all to succeed.  It would not work if the wrong one was in charge, or if the one with the physical strength was out of position, or if the brain of the operation was busy doing some menial task instead of focusing on organizing the plan of attack.   It was necessary for the one who was strong in mind, who had self control to realize his purpose as the leader of the group.  It was necessary for the one who was strong physically to realize his purpose as the strength of the team.  All though this was a children's movie it gave some important ideas for us as adults to meditate upon if we would just pay attention

If you ever joined a sorority or fraternity you remember the closeness of the line as it pledged, a
nd the need to band together in the face of each new challenge.  How even more important is it for the brothers and sisters in the church to stand together as one united front against the attacks of the enemy.  Another important feature of a fraternity or sorority is the fact that you are identified as a member no matter where you go by your unique signs, calls, etc., and can look for someone you have never met before to step up to lend you a hand just because of your membership in their organization.  Wow, that is amazing, but how much greater it would be for us, the body of Christ, to have that same unity but according to the Word of God.

We should be identifiable where ever we go by our works, by our walk, and our talk as different from the world.  The signs that others should see is the power of God working in and through us as we go out to preach the word, lay hands on the sick, and heal the land.   The call that should be heard is "Hallelujah", as we give Him the highest praise.  A child of God should be able to go into another assembly or relocate to a new area, and be welcomed into the family with love.  Our identifiable uniform, as a member of this great brotherhood, is to be clothed in holiness and meekness.  We are called to join together as a family, comprised of one body, with one mind, and one goal to serve the Lord with gladness.

When we each find our place in the body and serve with faithfulness and unity we will accomplish great things for the kingdom.  Let's join together, and set aside childish squabbles and petty envying of others, and instead become helpers one of another.  Let's look for the good in each other, and encourage each person to work in their area of strength(s) instead of focusing on their weakness.  Let's speak words of life and hope to one another, and not death.  Let's dig deeper into the word of God and give ourselves to living as God has called us to do, and ultimately may we all find that the greatest brotherhood we could ever join is, and always has been, the kingdom of God.

Words To Stand On...

1 Corinthians 12:12-18
12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.
13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
14 For the body is not one member, but many.
15 If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?
16 And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?
17 If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling?
18 But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.

Psalm 133:1
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!

John 13:35
35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
